Ready for Takeoff: 10 Airport Outfit Ideas

If you’re like us here at Miss American Made, you LOVE traveling. Totally embracing your sense of wanderlust to experience new cultures, meet lots of new people, and find the best relaxation (and party) spots is one of the most rewarding things EVER. You’ll never regret the trips you take!

But, before you get to your destination, you’ve got to get through the airport. Maybe you LOVE the airport, maybe you hate it, but either way, you’re going to want to be comfortable while you’re sitting and waiting or flying for hours. And you’re a baddie, so OF COURSE comfort is not the only concern! Looking chic and elevated is a non-negotiable.

Still, airports can be a tricky place to dress for due to fluctuating temperatures, flight delays, uncomfortable seats, and the potential running-to-your-gate situations. YIKES! It’s a lot to consider for sure. Don’t sweat it, though today, we’ve got a round-up of airport outfits that’ll have you looking HOT while feeling comfortable. AND they’re all American-made, of course! Let’s get into it.

10 Airport Outfit Ideas

Athleisure

A good travel outfit HAS to be comfortable, and what’s more comfortable than workout wear? Literally nothing! Plus, these clothes are great for moving around if you’ve got a short layover and have to run. Take these colorblock leggings and pair them with this pullover top. Pull on your chunky white sneakers and you’re ready to fly!

Sweatshirt + Flared Leggings

This ‘fit is pretty simple, but can still look totally cool and vacation-ready. Pull on your favorite sweatshirt we like this DANZY sweatshirt that gives off all the country club vibes and some high waist flare leggings. (PS: Here’s more tips on how to style flared leggings.) Then, grab a pair of slides for a casual, put together look you’ll also appreciate the slides, because they’re easy to take on and off at security. They’re a win all around in terms of style, comfort, and practicality.

Matching Lounge Set (Pants)

A matching set is the perfect travel outfit it’s easy, trendy, and can be totally chic if you style it the right way! We are digging this Glam velour track suit that gives off early 00’s vibes. Style with low-top sneakers, simple gold jewelry (AFTER security), and a suitcase that fits the vibe and color scheme! Now, your whole look is a moment!

Beach-Ready ‘Fit

If you’re heading to the beach, chances are you’ve packed relaxed, comfortable vacation clothes. So why not match the vibe? You can jump start your beachy mindset with a casual linen outfit, like this sleeveless elastic waist pullover and Kick Back pants. They’ll go great with a pair of slides or sandals, though you may want to bring a pair of socks for walking through security, because walking through barefoot? Absolutely not the move!

You’ll probably want to bring a travel blanket as well to keep from getting cold on the plane. (Don’t like that one? We have lots more blankets here!) And of course, no beach-ready outfit is complete without a pair of American-made sunnies!

Hoodie + Leggings

If you prefer your leggings tight and your sweatshirts hooded, then take our sweatshirt and flared leggings outfit and turn it on its head! Grab this Ninja hoodie from Aviator Nation and a pair of leggings. Throw your stuff in this Continental backpack and your travel outfit is done!

Dress It Up

If your priorities are being comfortable, taking it easy, and looking d*mn good, then this ‘fit is for you, baddies! A simple t-shirt dress can look so chic, yet it’s easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy to pull off. You can style it with jewelry for after security and your favorite carry-on tote!

Sweatpants + Sweatshirt

Maybe you’ve got a transatlantic flight, maybe you’ve got a red eye. Either way, if your top priority is comfort, this one’s for you. Cropped sweatpants and a pullover hoodie are the ideal attire for taking a snooze on the plane while still looking great!

Don’t like that pair of sweats? Here’s more great sweatpants options for you!

Biker Shorts + Trucker Hat

If you’re not as worried about getting cold, biker shorts are a great option for traveling! For this ‘fit, grab a pair of biker shorts, a cropped long sleeve shirt, and a trucker hat. You’ll be looking totally Sporty Spice while feeling oh-so-comfy!

Matching Lounge Set (Shorts)

At Miss American Made, we LOVE a matching set, whether it’s sweats, a skirt set, a shorts set, or something else! They’re SO easy to put together, so they work great if you’re a baddie who’s constantly running late there’s nothing to figure out!

Make it easy on yourself with these jersey shorts and unisex pullover from Los Angeles Apparel, an American-made brand offering TONS of clothing and accessory options, from basic closet staples to festival wear. They’ve also got these slouch socks which are SO COMFY for traveling!

Bougie B*tch

If you want to look like a bougie b*tch living her best life and traveling the world, then this one’s for you. Go with a chunky sweater to keep you warm on the plane, and pair it with nicer black leggings, like these neoprene split-front pants. If you really want to elevate your ‘fit, you can slip on a pair of heeled mules, but you may want to pack some chunky white sneakers in your carry-on just in case you’ve got a long walk from gate to gate in the airport.

For accessories, stick to simple gold jewelry (once again, after security!) and a leather tote.
