Retailers That Disclose Where Products Are Made

The hard part about shopping made in USA is knowing which retailers are willing to give you alll the details. Plus, which retailers make it easy peasy lemon squeezy to shop ONLY made in USA. Here’s your go to list of retailers & how + where they disclose country of origin.

Shopping Made in USA largely depends on disclosure. How can you choose to buy American made products if retailers aren’t disclosing where products are made? Here’s the thing… While companies are legally required to put the country of origin on the packaging or label of each product, there aren’t any laws or regulations requiring companies to disclose country of origin on their websites.

Obvi, this makes it harder to find products made in USA, which is why we’re soooo grateful to the retailers that DO DISCLOSE where products come from.

As for HOW they disclose where products are made, well, it varies. For the most part, it’s in the product description. But depending on how their website is built and designed, it’s sometimes mentioned at the bottom of the product page, on the right or left hand side, or sometimes even in a collapsable drop-down window. They also vary in how much information they disclose.

Some retailers share the exact location of product origin, some include the origin of the raw materials used to make the product, and others simply say “imported.” But you’re looking for that “MADE IN USA” bullet point, phrase, or declaration. No matter how it’s worded, there shouldn’t be any doubt that the product was made in the United States.

Below is a list of our favorite retailers that ALWAYS disclose whether a product is MADE IN USA or Imported. Let’s see:

Retailers That Disclose Where Products Are Made

Before we start: You’ll notice we mention using the search feature on a lot of retail websites to find products made in America. We want you to know that while this feature can be REALLY useful, it isn’t perfect. Sometimes, for one reason or another, imported products still make their way onto your results page. This is why it’s important to always check to make sure each item is actually made in USA.

Revolve

Revolve lists the country of origin in the product description of every item. Whether it’s made in USA, made in China, or made anywhere really, they list the specific country. Oh, and as if we needed another reason to love Revolve, their search feature makes it super easy to find Made In USA items. It’s a total game-changer (and time-saver) when shopping for American Made items. Click HERE to see that specific product search.

Nordstrom

Nordstrom lists either imported or made in USA for each product sold on their site. It’s down underneath the product images, in the “Details & Care” section. They also allow you to search their entire site specifically for Made in USA products. You can see that search feature HERE.

Vici Collection

Okay so, this one’s tricky. They don’t always disclose country of origin. However, if a product IS made in USA, they throw it in the product details. Until recently, we were able to search their entire site specifically for made in USA products. Our latest attempts at using this search future yielded 0 results ( see HERE ), even though there are a bunch of made in USA items listed on the site. So, while we wish the search feature worked properly and the disclosure was on every page, we’re grateful we can see the country of origin for many items.

Wolfe & Badger

Wolfe & Badger coming in hootttttt ya’ll. They disclose the country of origin in multiple places – typically in the “product details,” “materials & care,” & “meet the brand” sections on the product pages. You can also search their entire site specifically for products made in America, but you’ll need to type in “made in United States of America” for the best results.

Zappos

Zappos discloses whether a product is made in USA or imported in the “product information” section of each product page. The Zappos site search bar also allows you to search “made in USA” to see all of the American made products on their site.

FWRD

FWRD is another one that’s killing it because they disclose the exact country of origin, made in USA, AND allow you to search their site for all of the American made products. See their made in USA search filter HERE.

ShopBop

This retailer discloses whether an item is made in USA or imported in the details section of each product page. And they often include the country of origin next to the imported disclosure. Use their search feature to see all of their American Made items.

Intermix

Intermix lists the country of origin, specifically whether its made in USA or elsewhere. You can find this information in the product details. Unfortunately you cannot search the entire site using the phrase “made in USA” to find all the American made products on Intermix, but we still dig it.

Neiman Marcus

Neiman Marcus always discloses whether a product is made in USA or imported on the product pages under “details”. Their search feature unfortunately does not allow you to search their entire site for all of the American Made products at once. So you have to click into a product page and view the details in order to ensure the product is American Made.

Saks Fifth Avenue

The Saks website lists whether an item is made in USA or imported in the “Product Details” section of the products page. Their site search bar does not allow you to search the entire site for American made items.

Lord & Taylor

Lord & Taylor discloses whether an item is imported or made in USA in the product description along with details related to fabric or materials, product specs, washing instructions, style, etc. Unfortunately, their site search feature does not allow you to search for all the American Made products on their site at the time of writing this post.

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters always discloses the country of origin in the product details! Unfortunately their site search doesn’t allow you to search all of the products at once, but we still love them!

District 5 Boutique:

This retailer discloses whether an item is made in USA or imported along with the price and all of the other information about the product. Their site does not allow you to search specifically for all of the American Made items on their site.

Gilt

You need a membership to shop this site, but they disclose where items are made so we’re here for it. Gilt discloses imported or made in USA in the product details.

Marshalls

Marshalls for the win, ladies! This retailer shares when an item is made in USA in the product details PLUS they allow you to search their entire site for MADE IN USA! Savings & supporting American Makers. WOO!

Anthropologie

Anthropologie, the beloved boho-chic retailer, is also doing their part to increase transparency by disclosing country of origin. You can’t search their entire site for products made in USA, but you can easily find the country of origin in the product details!
